Car Insurance

Some people are unsure about exactly what each leve of car insurance offers and what it covers, we intend to offer you a no nonsense explanation of what is offered with each level of insurance.

Comprehensive Car Insurance

With comprehensive car insurance you are covered for pretty much every circumstance, but because you are covered for so much more, it tends to cost more than Third Party Insurance. There are certain circumstances where it is inadviseable to take out comprehensive cover. If your car is worth less than £1500, You have no NCB or You are under 20.

If you drive an expensive car then it is certainly adviseable that you take out comprehensive car insurance, you wouldn't want to have to buy a new one would you?

Although comprehensive covers you under most events, you must remember that you still have to pay an excess on any claims that you make. This is one of the reasons that you should always make sure that you understand what common insurance terms are likely to be used by sales people.

Third Party Fire & Theft Car Insurance

it's worth discussing what Third Party Fire & Theft Car Insurance(TPFT from here on) has to offer you. Although TPFT is still very much focused on providing cover for 3rd parties, it does offer you cover on instances that might be beyond your control such as theft or fire. Insurance companies recognise that even tho you are a good driver, there is only so much control you have over incidents such as theft and fire. If someone steals your car then this level of insurance would cover you(unlike 3rd party), likewise with fire.

We would recommend this level of insurance to younger people as it usually allows them to buy a nice car but still pay a sensible insurance premium. They are covered in the event of someone hitting them(by the other persons insurance) and if the car is set on fire or stolen, if they are driving carelessly and crash the car they receive nothing. This seems to be quite a fair way to deal with the matter, as long as the driver takes care and is not driving carelessly then they should be covered for any instances out of their control.

Third Party Car Insurance

Third Party Car Insurance can be a very good way to reduce your insurance costs if you need to save a bit of money or simply don't think the car is worth very much money. You should be aware that although third party insurance is probably the cheapest, it also offer the least protection of any level. There are no situations where your property is covered, if someone hits you then the only way you would get money for your car would be through their insurance company.

Third party car insurance offers you very little protection against anything happenning to your car. The reason that this level of insurance exists is that UK law requires each driver of a vehicle to have adequate insurance to cover any third party or their property. Basically it's there to protect other people, not you.
